Connecting an AI assistant
Connecting an AI assistant
You can connect Claude or ChatGPT to your Seller Oracle account and ask it about your buying in plain words. For example, "How much did I spend this month?", "Which retailer do I buy from most?", "What's waiting for me in the Action Centre?" or "What did I pay for B0ABCDE123 last time?".
The assistant reads your Seller Oracle data to answer. It can't change anything.
Who can connect
Only the account owner can connect an assistant. Other team members don't see the AI assistants page.
You need an account on the assistant you want to use. Some plans limit what you can do:
- Claude works on every plan. The free plan allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it for the organisation, then you click Connect.
- ChatGPT needs Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu. On Business, Enterprise or Edu, your workspace admin has to allow it first.
How to connect
Go to Settings > AI assistants. It shows your connector address, https://selleroracle.com/mcp, with a Copy button and step-by-step instructions for each app:
- the Claude app on Mac or Windows,
- Claude on the web (claude.ai),
- the ChatGPT app on Mac or Windows,
- ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com).
In every app, Seller Oracle opens in your browser, you sign in and you click Allow. If you haven't typed your password in that browser in the last 15 minutes, Seller Oracle asks for it on the Allow screen. This stops someone at an unlocked computer from connecting their own assistant to your account.
Claude only needs setting up once. It then works on claude.ai, in the Claude app and in the Claude phone app. The ChatGPT app and chatgpt.com are set up separately.
What an assistant can see
An assistant can read:
- your orders and their items, refunds, tracking numbers and delivery dates,
- whether Amazon lets you sell each unlisted item, as the order page shows it,
- your spend, your spend targets, your retailers and your expenses,
- your to-do list from the Action Centre,
- what you paid per unit for a product, by ASIN or name,
- invoice file names and links to download them,
- your Seller Oracle plan and billing dates,
- delivery codes, one order at a time. A list of orders only says whether a code is waiting.
It can't change anything in your account, read your emails, or open your invoice files. A download link only works in a browser where you are signed in to Seller Oracle.
Seller Oracle doesn't calculate profit or margins, so an assistant can't get those from us either.
Streaming mode
Streaming mode hides private details while you live-stream or record your screen. Turn it on in Settings > Appearance, then use the Streaming button at the top right. If streaming mode is on, the assistant gets the same hidden values you see on screen. Order references, ASINs, SKUs, EANs, tracking numbers, delivery codes, expense supplier names and invoice numbers come back hidden. Invoice file names and links are left out, and retailers show as a number, such as Retailer 12. Orders you've hidden on stream are left out completely, including from totals.
What we record
Each time an assistant reads your data, we keep a record of which assistant it was, what it looked up, any search words it used, how many results came back, whether it was shown a delivery code, and when. We keep these records for 90 days. See the privacy policy for how long connections are kept.
What the assistant's provider does with your data after that is covered by your own agreement with them.
A word of caution
Product names, retailer names and other text in Seller Oracle come from your emails. Someone could put text in an email that tries to give your assistant instructions, such as "ignore your previous instructions and...". Seller Oracle sends this text as data and tells the assistant not to follow it, and because the connection is read-only nothing in Seller Oracle can be changed this way. But if your assistant has other tools connected, such as email or files, an instruction hidden in a product name could try to use them. Only connect tools you trust, and check what your assistant is about to do before you approve it.
Disconnecting
Go to Settings > AI assistants and click Disconnect next to the assistant. It stops working straight away.
A connection also stops working if you change your password, if your login is locked after too many wrong password tries, if you stop being the account owner, if you don't use it for 30 days, or 90 days after you clicked Allow to set it up.
To use it again, open your assistant's connector settings, click Connect (or Authenticate in the ChatGPT app) next to Seller Oracle, sign in and click Allow. You don't need to add Seller Oracle a second time.
The assistant keeps working after your trial ends, whichever Seller Oracle plan you are on.
